A valley in Qinling Mountain, taken from a train. The Qinling is a mountain range located in central-western China. It separates Shaanxi Province from Sichuan Province to the south. It forms part of the line that divides China into the North and the South as climates on two sides of the mountain range are quite different. There are many tunnels on the railways that wind through the mountains in this part of the country. As you can see, arable land is rather scarce in the region.

Qinling is the western section of the line that divides China into the North and the South. In the east, the line goes along the Huai River. The Huai River lies between the Yellow River in the north and the Yangzi River in the south.
