A Stele in Front of a Confucian Temple

On this stone stele standing in front of a Confucian temple, it is stated that "All people, Manchu or Chinese, civilian or military, official or common, must dismount when they reach this point." This was to show respects to Confucius, China's greatest philosopher, and scholarship and education, which the ancient master emphasized. The tablet was evidently erected back in the Qing Dynasty as the inscription mentions Manchu, who reigned over China then.
