Beihai means "North Sea." Beihai Park is a park located northwest of the Forbidden City in Beijing. Originally created over a thousand years ago, for centuries the park was exclusively reserved for China's imperial rulers who resided in the Forbidden City.
The white pagoda that stands on a hill in Beihai Park was initially constructed in the 17th century. It is of a Tibetan Buddhist style.
