Wuhan

Wuhan is located in the heart of China, where the Yangzi River and the Beijing-Guangzhou railway intersect. With goods and people from all over the country converging, Wuhan has grown to be a city with strong personality - outgoing, bold, restless. It is the capital of Hubei Province and the economic powerhouse of Central China.

Attractions

  • East Lake (Dong Hu)

    As the name indicates, this lake lies east of Wuhan. Measuring 33 sq. km in area, this is the largest lake that is so close to a major city China. The lake and land around the lake has been turned into a vast public park, with bird sanctuaries, botanical gardens, museums, hiking trails, boating facilities and more.
  • Guiyuan Buddhist Temple (Guiyuan Si)

    Located in Hanyang District in Wuhan, Guiyuan Temple was one of the most important establishments in the region. Sitting on 11 acres of land, the temple was originally founded in the 17th century and shelters many precious Buddhist sutras and artifacts.
  • Hubei Provincial Museum (Hubei Sheng Bowuguan)

    The region in which Wuhan is located has a long history behind, being the birthplace of what is known as chu culture in China. The Hubei Provincial Museum presents this rich history with impressive exhibitions. Of particular interest in the collections of the museum is the Zenghouyi Bianzhong or "serial bells." The set is consisted of 65 bronze bells in the set, which weigh a total of 2.5 tons and are arranged according to their sizes. They date back over 2,400 years ago and were excavated 1978.
  • Mulan Scenic and Vacational Area

    The scenic resort is located 50 km north of Wuhan, known for its green hills, clear water, and cool breeze. A nice retreat from the urban bustling of Wuhan.
  • The Wuhan Yangzi River Bridge (Wuhan Changjiang Daqiao)

    This bridge spans the Yangzi in the heart of Wuhan. Constructed in the 1950s, this was the first bridge ever built on the great Yangzi River. The bridge is 1.67 km in length and is over 80 meters in height. It is used by trains, automobiles and pedestrians.
  • Yellow Crane Tower (Huang He Lou)

    Huang He Lou, the Yellow Crane Tower, stands atop of a hill on the northern bank of the Yangzi River in Wuhan. The tower overlooks the Yangzi and Wuhan, making an ideal viewing platform. The tower was originally in the historical period of Three Kingdoms (the 3rd century) but was burned a number of times and subsequently rebuilt. The tower currently standing is recently constructed and measures 50 meters in height. The name of the tower refers to a legend, made famous by an ancient poem - "the immortal has flied away with the yellow crane, leaving behind this tower empty for all to see..."

Wuhan Transportation


Airport:

Wuhan Tianhe International Airport is 30 km north of the city center of Wuhan. The airport is connected to the city by shuttle buses, taxis and city buses.

Railway Stations:

There are three railway stations in Wuhan. Hankou Railway Station (Hankou Huoche Zhan) mostly serves trains going in the east-west direction. Wuchang Railway Station (Wuchang Huoche Zhan) mostly serves ordinary trains going in the direction of north-south. The newly opened Wuhan Railway Station (Wuhan Huoche Zhan) serves high-speed trains.

Wuhan Passenger Transportation General Station (Wuhan Keyun Zong Zhan), also known as Jinjiadun Bus Station, next to Hankou Railway Station. Hankou Xinhua Lu Bus Station (Hankou Qiche Zhan), on Xinhua Road, north of Jiefang Dadao. Wuchang Fujiapo Bus Station (Wuchang Fujiapo Qiche Zhan), No. 262 Wuluo Road. Jijiazui Bus Station (Jijiazui Qiche Zhan), next to Jijiazui Dock, on Riverside Avenue (Yanhe Dadao).

¥6 for the first 2 km; ¥1 for each additional km under 5 km; ¥1.2 for each additional km above 5 km.

Huanghelou Dock, Zhonghua Road at Linjiang Avenue. Zengjiaxiang Dock, Simalu (Fourth Road) at Linjiang Avenue. Wangjiaxiang Dock, Minquan Road at Yanjiang Avenue. Wuhanguan Dock, Linjiang Lane at Yanjiang Avenue. Yuehan Dock, Caie Road at Yanjiang Avenue. Hanyangmen Dock, on Linjiang Avenue, between Minzhu Road and Zhonghua Road.
