Guiyang

Guiyang is the capital of the southwestern Guizhou province and the economic, political and cultural center of the region. Located on the eastern slope of the Yungui Plateau, with an elevation of over 1,000 meters, Guiyang enjoys seasonal and moderate weather. Although the city itself does not provide many extraordinary sights, it is an important travel hub with links to more interesting tour destinations.

  • Baihuahu Scenic Area (Baihuahu Fengjing Qu)

    This scenic area is located 22 km northwest of Guiyang. It measures 82 square kilometers in area and comprises a number of lakes. Here one finds streams and warm springs, islands and caves, trees and flowers...
  • Hongfenghu Scenic Area (Hongfenghu Fengjing Qu)

    Situated 25 km west of Quiyang, Hongfenghu Senic Area comprises 200 square kilometers of land and water surface. One finds plentiful vacationing opportunities here, including sightseeing, hiking and boating. In the scenic area there also ethnic villages that present put folk dance shows.
  • Huaxi Scenic Area (Huaxi Fengjing Qu)

    Huaxi Scenic Area is located 15 km south of Guiyang. Green hills, clear streams, blooming flowers, cool air and relative proximity to the city make the area an ideal retreat destination for Guiyang residents. In the area one finds Huaxi Park, Shili Hetan (Sandy Riversides), and Tianhe Pond. Qingyan Old Town and Gaopo Enthnic Culture Site are nearby too.
  • Jiaxiu Pavilion (Jiaxiu Lou)

    Located in the heart of Guiyang, Jiaxiu pavilion stands on the bank of the Nanming River that flows through the city. Constructed in the 16th century, connected to Fuyu Qiao (Floating Jade Bridge) in front of it, Jiaxiu Pavilion has become the symbol of Guiyang. Today, the traditional structure makes an interesting contrast to the modern high-rises around it, testifying to what has happened to Guiyang in the modern times.
  • Qianlingshan Park (Qianlingshan Gongyuan)

    Qianlingshan park is located in northwestern Guiyang. It is named after the mountain standing in the area and the lake that lie at the foot of the mountain. On top of the mountain one can take an overview of Guiyang below. Walking up a winding mountain path one can reach Hongfu Temple, which was founded in the 17th century (there is also cable car service to the temple). The multi-purpose park also includes a zoo and various ethnic and folk art exhibitions.
  • Qingyan Old Town ?Qingyan Gu Zhen)

    Qingyan Old Town is located 28 km south of Quiyang. The history of the town goes back to the 14th century, when it was first built as a military outpost. Situated in a hilly area, the wall of the town sat on hillsides and cliffs, and stones are extensively used in the construction of buildings and roads in the town. Many historical structures in the town are well preserved, including temples, arches, even a couple of Christian churches. About 40% of the town's residents are Miao and Yi minorities whereas the others are the Han Chinese.
  • Tianhetan Scenic Area

    Tianhetan Scenic Area is 25 km south of Guiyang. The area comprises of 15 square kilometers of land. The main attraction in the area is the karst landscape. One cave in the area measures 3 km in total length, with an underground river flowing through it.

Airport:

Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport is 11 southeast of the city. The airport is connected to the city by shuttle buses, taxis and city buses.

Railway Station:

Guiyang Railway Station (Guiyang Huoche Zhan) is located at the southern end of the city, on Zunyi Road.

Long Distance Bus Stations:

Guiyang Passenger Bus Station (Guiyang Keche Zhan), No. 32 Yanan Xi Road. Guiyang Stadium Long Distance Bus Station (Guiyang Tiyuguan Chyangtu Qiche Zhan), Jiefang Road at Zunyi Road. Guiyang Tourist Passenger Transportation Central Station (Guiyang Luyou Kenyun Zhongxin Zhan), No. 278 Beijing Road.
