Guilin

Located in southwestern China, Guilin is known for its natural beauty, especially the spectacular karst landscape on the banks of the Li River.

Attractions

  • Diecai Mountain

    A scenic mountain in northern Guilin. Diecai means "Folded Brocade".

  • Li River

    The Li River flows through Guilin and beyond. The stretch of the river from Guilin to the downstream town Yangshuo, 80 km in length, offers beautiful views of misty water, peculiarly shaped green hills and peaceful countryside. A cruise down the river feels like drifting through a picturesque corridor. Among the sights and attractions along the river are Elephant Trunk Hill, Pagoda Hill, Daxu Old Town, Mopanshan Wharf, Zhujiang Wharf, Wangfu Rock, Crown Cave, Yangdi, Mural Hill, Xingping Town and Snail Hill.

  • Ludi Cave

    Located 5 km from downtown Guilin, Ludi Cave is one of the two well-known karst caves in the region. Smaller in size than Seven-Star Cave, Ludi Cave offers sights of dripstones that are as impressive.

  • Seven-Star Cave

    Seven-Star Cave is about half way up the western slope of Putuo Hill, which stands on the eastern bank of the Liver River that flows through Guilin. The karst cave is approximately one km in length; at its widest, it is 43 m, and, at its highest, 27 m.

  • Yangshuo

    A small town on the Li River, some 85 km downstream from Guilin, Yangshuo is the terminal of most Li River cruises. It is also a nice place with numerous beautiful views of its own, which in recent years have attracted many artists seeking for inspiration. On Xijie or West Street, a large number of restaurants and bars cater to visitors.

Airport:

Guilin Liangjiang International Airport is 25 km southwest of Guilin.

Transportation: Shuttle buses and taxis.

Railway Stations:

There are two railway stations in Guilin. Guilin Station (Guilin Zhan), sometimes called Guilin South Station (Guilin Nan Zhan), is the main station for the city. The other station is Guilin North Station (Guilin Bei Zhan).

Long Distance Bus Station

The main long distance bus station is Guilin Long Distance Passenger Transportation Station (Guilin Changtu Keyun Zhan). The station is located a short distance (0.5 km) from Guilin Railway Station.

Taxi:

¥8 for the first 2 km; ¥1.6 per km between 2 and 4 km; ¥2 for each km above 4 km.

Bus:

Fare for city buses is ¥1.
