Changsha
| Changsha is the capital of Hunan Province, located 833 km (516 ml) north of Guangzhou and 1,645 km (1,020 ml) south of Beijing. Changsha has a rich history and has played an important role in the affairs of modern China. It was here that Mao Zedong first started his revolutionary career. Changsha today is the political, economic and cultural center of Hunan. | | | |  | Attractions | Hunan Provincial Museum (Hunan Sheng Bowuguan)The museum is the home of numerous previous historical artifacts, which well represent the rich history of this part of China. Among most valuable of the museum's collections are the relics from the tomb of Marquis Dai at Mawangdui, which date back to the 2nd century B.C. and were excavated in the 1970s. Along with treasures such as silk and lacquer-wares, there is the well-preserved body of Xin Zhui, the wife of Marquis Dai. The museum is located on Dongfeng Road in Kaifu District.
Orange Island (Juzi Zhou)This is an long, narrow island in the Xiang River, five km in length. Its name came from the orange trees that grow all over the island. In the public park located on the island, there are boating, swimming and other facilities to entertain visitors. A nice place to take a walk and bicycle around and to look back on the skyline of Changsha. Juzi Zhou Bridge connects the island to the western and eastern banks of the Xiang River.
Shaoshan (Mao's Home Village)Shaoshan, a small village 100 km southwest of Changsha, was the birthplace of Mao Zedong, the communist leader and the founder of the People's Republic China. born in 1893,Mao lived here as a teenager. Preserved in Shaoshan is his old house and related historical sites.
The Window of the World in Changsha (Changsha Shijie Zhi Chuang)This is an amusement park that present, on smaller scales, architecture and sights from around the globe. Among its attractions are Japan Garden, Egyptian Pyramids, Southeast Asian Village, Cowboy Street. This is a sister park of the Windows of the World in Shenzhen. Occupying 100 acres of land, the park is located in the northeastern suburb of Changsha, next to the Hunan Exhibition and Conference Center.
Yuelu Academy (Yuelu Shuyuan)Originally established in the 10th century, the Yuelu Academy holds an important position in the intellectual history of China and its name was associated with numerous renown historical figures. The academy is Located on the eastern side of Yuelu Mountain.
Yuelu Mountain (Yuelu Shan)Yuelu Mountain is the main scenic area in Changsha, located on the western bank of the Xiang River. The mountain is not tall, its elevation being 300 m., but it appeals to those who want to find a respite from the urban dynamics with its green trees, shadowy valleys and cultural sites such as Sunset Pavilion (Ai Wan Ting), King Yu Stele (Yu Wang Bei) and Lushan Temple (Lushan Si).

Changsha Huanghua International Airport is 25 west of Changsha. The airport is connected to the city by shuttle buses and taxis.
Railway Stations:
There are two railway stations in Changsha. Changsha Railway Station (Changsha Huoche Zhan) is located at the eastern end of Wuyi Avenue. The newly opened Changsha Southern Station (Changsha Nan Zhan) is in the southwestern part of Changsha and serves the Wuhan-Guangzhou high-speed trains.
